Louie’s Loft is named after our very first ambassador pigeon, Louie. Through her, we educate the public, break myths about pigeons, and promote compassion for all birds—especially those most commonly seen in urban areas like pigeons, starlings, and house sparrows.
🌿 Working near Detroit, we believe nature should feel welcoming to everyone—especially kids growing up in cities who may not feel connected to wildlife. By helping even the most overlooked birds, we encourage empathy, understanding, and a sense of belonging in the natural world.
📚 Did You Know? Pigeons aren’t wild—they’re feral descendants of domesticated birds humans have lived with for thousands of years. They've served as messengers, symbols of peace, and beloved pets. The pigeons you see today in cities are part of that long history—and they deserve our care and respect.
🏠 A Home for All We trace banded pigeons and return them when possible. Others are placed in loving homes or cared for permanently if they have special needs. So far, we’ve helped over 500 pigeons find safe, happy futures.

Poppy is all sass, all the time. She knows what she wants (usually the best perch), isn’t afraid to speak her mind (with a dramatic wing flick), and keeps everyone on their toes with her fiery little personality. But beneath that sass is a smart, spirited bird who brings life and color to the loft.
She may be small, but Poppy owns every inch of space she’s in. One look at her, and you’ll see—this girl’s a star.
Poe is our plucky little Budapest pigeon mix with a big personality packed into a tiny frame. With his striking eyes, bold attitude, and nonstop curiosity, Poe is always up to something—and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Though small, he carries himself like he owns the loft. He’s clever, full of opinions, and never misses a chance to investigate something new (or stir up a little harmless drama). Poe is the kind of bird who makes you laugh, think, and fall in love all at once.
He may be little, but Poe’s presence is larger than life—and we’re lucky to have him as part of our flock.
Betty is a beautiful Parlor Roller pigeon with a heart as lovely as her feathers. Sweet-natured, gentle, and always a joy to be around, she truly is the perfect package.
Parlor Rollers are known for their unique ground-rolling behavior, but Betty brings more than just charm—she brings calm. She’s the kind of bird who makes everyone around her feel at ease, with her soft coos and kind eyes.
Whether she’s sunbathing by the window or snuggling into fresh bedding, Betty reminds us of the quiet beauty in simply being present. She’s grace, sweetness, and softness wrapped into one perfect little pigeon.
